  4. Diana Taylor says:

I want to know if bread slices are standing up when in pan, or flat. That part is confusing to me. Want to make this for company but need clarification. Thanks so much.

  5. Jeannie says:

Wouldn't this be good if you sliced the French bread lengthwise in 3 and mixed cream cheese with confectioners sugar spread this over each slice, sprinkled this with cinnamon sugar and than poured the egg mix over top of the whole loaf and baked? In my house I'm the only cream cheese lover so it would be a waste for me to attempt a whole loaf but it does sound yummy!

  6. Carrie says:

Do you think you could put this together the night before and bake in the morning?

  7. Cyd says:

Hi Carrie, You should be fine making this the night before and bake in the morning. Keep covered in the fridge overnight.

  8. Laura says:

This looks amazing! Quick question, do you place multiple layers of the bread in the pan? Or is it just one, flat layer of bread? Thanks :)

  9. Lauree says:

Making this for my Easter brunch! Wish me luck!

  10. Paula says:

This recipe is delicious! I used sourdough instead of French bread simply because my grocery store was out of French bread and it was still wonderful! I also opted to make homemade cream cheese frosting because I like to avoid trans fat and it's almost always found in canned frosting. But overall this recipe was incredible and will become a brunch staple of mine!

  11. Vickie says:

Are you layering the bread, or is it a single layer? Thanks, looks yummy!

  12. Jean says:

Why do you melt the cream cheese? Looks like it would melt if you spread it on the warm bread. right out of the oven?

  13. Elizabeth says:

Could you do more than two layers?

  14. Cyd says:

We have only done it with 2 layers. You want the brown sugar mixture to cover all of the bread slices and cook evenly. You could do more than one pan. :)

  15. Trish Duffey says:

Have you tried cutting the bread in large chunks and doing it? Sounds great for Christmas morning tho..

  16. BB says:

Still confusing about the layers. Is that a one single layer cut in half and placed flat down and then put the other half flat down on top of the first half?

  17. Natalie says:

if i prep the night before does it change the consistency of the bread? Are the results better made all on the same day?

  18. Cyd says:

At the bottom of the recipe it says that you can make this the night before, cover it and cook for 30 minutes in the morning. It turns out well.

  19. Caroline says:

I made this recipe and used one layer. It seemed like it didn't have enough liquid. Usually it's like 1/2 milk and 1 cup cream. Maybe next time I'll use bread instead of french bread. I wonder if a brioche bread would work too. I think I'm going to try this again but use more milk.

  20. Ali says:

the picture shows them slanted leaning on each other. do see the picture.i made this just now without the frosting and used 1/3 c br sugar no to 1/2 c. i sprinkled berries on it when serving. i love it because i love sweets.

  21. Luan Martin says:

Could you use brioche bread for this recipe, or is it too soft?

  22. Cyd says:

We haven't used Brioche bread for Cinnamon Roll French Bread Bake. But it should work fine in this recipe.

  23. Crystal Leander says:

Do you have a video on making this recipe?

  24. 2pots2cook says:

Absolutely our cup of tea for the isolation time we have ! Thank you so much !

  25. Jul says:

Try it! Let us know how it turns out!

  27. Julia says:

Try it! Let us know how it turns out! I’m real curious!!!

  28. Sarah says:

Does this keep very well overnight? I was thinking about making this for camping, but I would have to make it the night before and reheat over the fire.

  29. Cyd Adamson says:

You can make this up the night before, cover it and pop it in the oven for 30 minutes the next morning! We have never cooked it over the fire. I'm sure you could have it all cooked and then reheat over the fire and it would be fine.

  30. Teresa says:

Just made this with an old loaf of French bread I was about to toss and it was delicious! I made my own frosting with some lactose free cream cheese and butter and used lactose free milk in the egg mixture. The substitutions worked perfectly, best frosting I’ve ever tasted! So nice to have control of those things! Thank you!

  31. Kristina M says:

I think the instructions are missing a step. Shouldn't the brown sugar be mixed in with everything?

FAQs

Is bread flour or regular flour better for cinnamon rolls? ›

Bread flour is hands down the best option when making cinnamon rolls. Any good cinnamon rolls recipe is going to usually call for bread flour instead of other kinds of flour. This is because bread flour is high in protein, usually containing 11% to 13% more protein than other kinds of flour.

Should you cover cinnamon rolls when baking? ›

They will expand more when baked. Preheat the oven to 375F. Brush the tops of the rolls with water or any kind of milk before baking. Cover your pan with foil or a lid (if using a cast iron) and place into preheated oven.

Is heavy cream and heavy whipping cream the same thing? ›

Is Heavy Cream the Same as Heavy Whipping Cream? Yes, heavy cream and heavy whipping cream are the exact same thing. The confusion lies in the fact that they're sold by different brands under two different names.

Why do you brush cinnamon rolls with milk before baking? ›

Roll the dough into a rectangle, and brush it with milk. This will help keep the cinnamon-sugar filling in place. Sprinkle the dough with the cinnamon-sugar, and roll it up. Cut the log into even slices.

Do you use brown or white sugar for cinnamon rolls? ›

Traditionally brown sugar is used and you can certainly use that if it's your preference. I kind of like the granulated sugar because it yields to the cinnamon, allowing the cinnamon to shine through more.

Why are my homemade cinnamon rolls dense? ›

Make sure you give the dough the full rise time for the ultimate soft and fluffy dough. If you try to rush the process you can end up with sad, dense rolls.

What happens if you add too much flour to cinnamon rolls? ›

You want to add only the amount of flour that it takes so your dough is not sticky. Adding too much flour will make your rolls very dry. Once you have added the appropriate amount of flour, turn your mixer to a low speed and let the machine do all the kneading for you.

Should I use parchment paper when baking cinnamon rolls? ›

Prepare 9x13in (doesn't have to be exact, just close) baking pans by lining with parchment paper. I use parchment paper just about every time I bake anything. Not only does it help keep things from sticking to the pan, it also helps keep the dough from burning. Now is a good time to start the oven preheating (350°F).

What is the secret ingredient in Cinnabon? ›

Cinnabon's Secret Ingredient

This special Indonesian cinnamon, called Makara, is trademarked by Cinnabon. And because of that trademark, you won't find this product in your local grocery store spice aisle.

Can I leave cinnamon rolls out overnight before baking? ›

Instead of letting the rolls rise at room temperature and baking them, you'll cut and arrange the rolls in the baking pan, tightly cover them with plastic wrap, immediately transfer them to the fridge and let them rest overnight. (Do not leave them out at room temperature for any longer than needed.)

Can you overproof cinnamon roll dough? ›

The rolls are still prone to over-proofing if left in the fridge too long; and the cinnamon-sugar filling can melt and make the bottoms of the rolls syrupy and damp if left unbaked for too long. Also note that some cinnamon roll recipes are made with chemical leaveners versus yeast.

Why do cinnamon rolls collapse after baking? ›

If you let your cinnamon rolls rise for too long you can over-proof them. This can lead to dense rolls or rolls that collapse after baking.

How to tell when cinnamon rolls are proofed? ›

Lightly spray with cooking spray and cover with plastic wrap. Proof (last fermentation after shaping) the cinnamon rolls at room temperature until they have increased in volume, and an indentation springs back when you press the edge of the dough with your finger.

How do you keep cinnamon rolls from drying out when baking? ›

Just before baking your cinnamon rolls, pour a bit of heavy cream over them in the pan (use ¼ cup to ½ cup for every 6 cinnamon rolls). The cream absorbs into the rolls as they bake, making them ultra moist and gooey (in a good way!).

Do you put icing on cinnamon rolls before baking? ›

Spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle on a mixture of cinnamon and sugar (brown sugar or white granulated sugar). Bake the rolls and then make the tangy cream cheese icing to smother on top.

What does heavy cream do in baking? ›

According to our very own “Prince of Pastry” Chef Eddy Van Damme, heavy cream has 36 to 40 percent milk fat and will whip up firmer with stiff peaks that hold their shape longer than whipping cream peaks do. Heavy cream is a good choice when decorating pies or cakes, or for thickening sauces and ganache.

Why do my cinnamon rolls fall after baking? ›

If you let your cinnamon rolls rise for too long you can over-proof them. This can lead to dense rolls or rolls that collapse after baking.
