North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trials

Merlin Trials unlock new gear slots in your inventory, allowing you to carry more items. This page has every location and solution for Merlin Trials in North Hogwarts Region.

How To Unlock Merlin Trials: To begin taking on the Merlin Trials, you'll need to complete the Trials of Merlin main story mission in Lower Hogsfield. After you have done that, you'll need to buy the ability to grow Mallowsweet from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade, and complete your first Herbology class, unlocking the ability to grow your own Mallowsweet.

Tips: We also recommend buying the 5 pot table from Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade, to make growing it easier, because you'll need Mallowsweet to activate every Merlin Trial (and there are lots of them).

North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trial 1

The first Merlin Trial is just west of the Forbidden Forest fast travel point. Throw some Mallowsweet on the point and then turn west and use basic attacks to destroy all the small balls atop the pillars to complete the trial.

North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trial 2

NOTE: This trial requires the Reparo spell.

The first Merlin Trial is west of the East North Hogwarts Region fast travel point. It can be found along the river, near a treasure cave and a butterfly point.

After activating it with Mallowsweet, use Reparo on the four crumbled statues surrounding the trial start point to complete it.

North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trial 3

NOTE: This trial requires the Confringo spell.

The third Merlin Trial can be found on the far western side of the North Hogwarts Region.

There is a small tower to the northwest of the trial location, so cast Confringo on the vines across the door to reveal a brazier.

Cast Confringo on the brazier in the tower, then turn around and cast it on the one to the south. After that, run across the bridge and turn left, then cast Confringo on the brazier just up the hill to complete the trial.

North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trial 4

NOTE: This trial requires Lumos.

The fourth Merlin Trial requires the spell Lumos, and it can be found west of Hogsmeade. After activating it with Mallowsweet, run to one of the glowing groups of butterflies. There is one by the tent, one by the tree, and one by the cliffs.

Cast Lumos and they'll bunch around your wand, then lead them back to one of the stone structures surrounding the trial's starting point. Once you've brought each butterfly group back to a stone, the challenge is complete.

North Hogwarts Region - Merlin Trial 5

NOTE: This trial requires Flipendo.

The fifth Merlin Trial can be found in the northern-most part of the North Hogwarts Region. After activating it with Mallowsweet, you'll need to cast Flipendo on the stone pillars.

One is right next to the fire, the next is across the bridge and down on the shore, then the third is on the small island in the middle of the pond. Activate them all to complete the trial.

North Hogwarts Region - Ancient Magic Hotspots

Ancient Magic Hotspots task players with gathering up nodes of Ancient Magic, and gathering all three will allow you to expand your pool of Ancient Magic, letting you use it more often.

North Hogwarts Region - Ancient Magic Hotspot 1

This hotspot can be found between the East North Hogwarts Region and Collector's Cave floo points.

Approach and activate the magic point, then blast the vines ahead with Incendio, Diffindo, or Confringo and hop up on the block to get the first bit of magic.

Drop down the hole to find some enemies, so destroy them, then search around to find the last two, then open sarcofa*gi to find bones and levitate them to the spine pillars to create a bridge out.

North Hogwarts Region - Landing Platforms

Landing platforms are simple, raised platforms scattered around the world. Simply fly up to them and land on top to complete them.

North Hogwarts Region - Landing Platform 1

The first landing platform can be found northeast of the East North Hogwarts Region floo point.

North Hogwarts Region - Landing Platform 2

The second Landing Platform can be found along the cliffs on the river, leading to the western section of North Hogwarts Region, northeast of Korrow Ruins.

North Hogwarts Region - Infamous Foes

Infamous Foes are stronger enemies that are fought in unique areas, have history behind them, or have unique skills or helpers. Defeat them to obtain special rewards.

North Hogwarts Region - Infamous Foe - Pergit

The Infamous Foe for North Hogwarts Region can be found in Korrow Ruins, although you'll need to engage in The Tale Of Rowland Oakes quest before it can be reached.

Once you are inside, use a fire spell on the boiler, then open the giant, circular door and head inside, where you'll find Pergit and a group of goblins.

North Hogwarts Region - Treasure Vaults

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 1

• Spells Required: Confringo

This Treasure Vault is located Southwest of Jackdaw’s Tomb. Find the dive spot under the bridge near the waterfall.

Swim to western part of the cave where you’ll find a stack of boulders blocking the way to the next area. Cast Confringo to destroy the boulder barricade. Enter the area to loot your treasure!

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 2

• Spells Required: Confringo

Find this Treasure Vault inside of a Small Bandit Camp along the river. Take down all enemies to access the vault. Find the stack of boulders in the southwest part of camp, and cast Confringo to destroy them to access the entrance. Head inside to claim your loot.

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 3

• Spells Required: Confringo or Incendio for Inferi enemies; Lumos

This Treasure Vault is located a level above the Small Bandit Camp. Use your fire-based spells to defeat Inferi enemies in the area.

Once clear, enter the hole in the rocky wall, but don’t run too far – there is Devil’s Snare blocking the way! Cast Lumos to make the vines recoil and allow you to pass without taking damage.

At the end of the path, you’ll find a diving spot. Jump in the water and enter the cave to retrieve your treasure.

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 4

• Spells Required: Confringo or Incendio

Find this Treasure Vault on the southern side of the river near a cluster of tents. Cast Confringo or Incendio to burn away the spider web blocking the entrance.

Follow the path until you reach another spider web next to enchanted pickaces. Cast your fire-based spell again to access your loot!

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 5

• Spells Required: None

This Treasure Vault is hidden in the northwest part of the North Hogwarts region. You’ll find some goblin enemies and a mountain troll to defeat before you can access the vault.

Enter the circular tunnel and follow it to your treasure.

North Hogwarts Treasure Vault 6

• Spells Required: None

Located northwest of a Small Bandit Camp, this Treasure Vault will be guarded by enemies to defeat. Once clear, enter the Treasure Vault and follow the path until you reach a diving spot. Dive into the water to find your loot!

North Hogwarts Region - Collection Chests

There are 7 Chests in the North Hogwarts region, which encompasses the area between Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest, and they are mostly found in dungeons and enemy camps.

North Hogwarts Region - The Collector's Cave

• Reward: Conjuration Recipe

The only collection chest to be found during a main quest in this region, you can only reach this particular chest once you've undertaken the main quest, The Helm of Urtkot. After getting the directions to the tomb from the goblin, make your way through the puzzle tomb until you reach a large open area where you destroy the floor to open a path down.

Before going down, look for a small chamber to the side that has two upper alcoves and a box on the floor. The Collection Chest sits on the alcove on the right, so use Wingardium Leviosa, Accio, or Depulso to move the box to the side so you can jump up and get it.

North Hogwarts Region - Southern Small Bandit Camp Collection Chest

• Reward: Attribute Trait

This Collection Chest is located in one of the many Bandit Camps in this region. This particular Bandit Camp is found just a bit north of the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame, on the left side of the river heading north towards the woods.

Once you've cleared the camp, look in a small tent to find the chest.

North Hogwarts Region - East North Small Bandit Camp Collection Chest

• Reward: Attribute Trait

This Collection Chest is located in one of the many Bandit Camps in this region. This particular Bandit Camp is found to the West of the East North Hogwarts Floo Flame, sitting right alongside the main river on the north side, and a bit south of Jackdaw's Tomb.

Once you've cleared the camp, look in a small tent to find the chest.

North Hogwarts Region - Northwest Small Bandit Camp Collection Chest

• Reward: Attribute Trait

This Collection Chest is located in one of the many Bandit Camps in this region. This particular Bandit Camp is found close to the East North Bandit Camp - located further West along the northern part of the river flowing through this region, and it perched on a high cliff overlooking a Niffler Den.

Once you've cleared the camp, look in a small tent to find the chest.

North Hogwarts Region - Korrow Ruins Bandit Camp Castle

• Reward: Attribute Trait

There are two Collection Chests found in the Bandit Camp Castle on the far west side of the North Hogwarts Region. The place is crawling with lots of Goblins, so be sure to eliminate them before beginning your search.

Once you have cleared the camp, look for the large antechamber near the Korrow Ruins Floo Flame, and you'll find it on the left as you enter, before entering the outdoor pit area.

• Reward: Attribute Trait

Another of two Collection Chests in the far West bandit camp castle of North Hogwarts Region. This chest is located further back in the large encampment, so be sure to clear out all the enemy Goblins first.

At the far back of this castle camp is the entrance to the Korrow Ruins, and you can also find a large interior room located above the dungeon entrance from its south side. Defeat the Goblins in this room, and look in the corner of the building room for the Collection Chest

North Hogwarts Region - Korrow Ruins Collection Chest

• Reward: Conjuration Recipe

This Collection Chest can be found in the depths of the Korrow Ruins dungeon, which is also the home of a Dangerous Foe in the far west part of the North Hogwarts Region. You'll need to clear the entire dungeon and defeat the boss before you can access this chest.

Once the Bandit Camp Castle has been cleared, make your way to the far west end of the camp to find the entrance to a dungeon around the back leading deep into the castle depths.

Make your way through the dungeon and defeat Goblins, and light the fire in the large open room to open a door to the boss area, where and Infamous Foe named Pergit leads a large battalion of Goblins in an open area to battle in.

Once you've defeated Pergit and his goblins, check on the upper balcony to the right of this room for an alcove at the far end, seemingly ending in a brick wall. As you approach, you'll instead find the stone wall opens up to reveal a small treasure trove, which includes the Collection Chest as well as other items to take.
