I highly recommend undervolting. When the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 GPU is undervolted, there is a significant decrease in battery consumption. It generates far less heat and only at the cost of 30% peak performance. Consequently, you can enjoy a battery life that's twice as long, with stability even surpassing that of the Snapdragon 870. I realize it might be obvious, but undervolting high-end mobile CPUs can work wonders, especially in emulation. For instance, this method enabled me to emulate Subnautica, Raft, and Stray at 30 FPS on high preset.

I believe it's the only way to manage this beast of a device. It's powerful, but its short battery life is its weakness (bad in bed, so to speak). By the way, is there any chance to root the phone without losing any data?

I don't understand why so many people have complaints about it. I've used the 8th Gen 1 on two phones: the S22 Ultra and the GT 2 Pro. The performance is considerably good.However, putting everything else aside, let's focus on gaming performance. To keep it brief and straightforward, let's discuss two specific games: PUBG and Brawl Stars.With PUBG:- GT 2 Pro has slightly better performance. Its heat level is reasonable, around 40 degrees.- S22 Ultra's performance is marginally inferior, but its heating is a little better than the GT 2 Pro.Now, for Brawl Stars:- The GT 2 Pro showcases significantly better performance. The gameplay is much faster, but the performance tends to drop frequently. It offers great performance overall, but it's somewhat inconsistent. The heat level is acceptable.- The S22 Ultra's performance is average but significantly worse than the GT 2 Pro. Although the gameplay is slower, it has very consistent performance. To be clear, the GT 2 Pro allows you to become a pro player faster. The primary difference lies in the touch and screen sensitivity while playing.Here's what I would like from the 8th Gen 2: the performance level of the GT 2 Pro and the consistency of the S22 Ultra.That's all I have to share for now. I'm curious to know whether the S23 Ultra runs Brawl Stars faster than the S22 Ultra. I'm very eager to find out.

Bad SoC, overheating, very bad battery life. The performance drops in just 3 minutes when under high load.

I've noticed this from day one. Battery life sucks. It does over heat. I feel like all 8gen1 or at least with the s22 series lone got scammed. They released a chipset that does not perform well. Probably so they can scam people into upgrading, you know the usual planned phone scams. What a shame

Some phones actually tamed this SoC by utilizing active cooling, such as redmagic. Not all hope is lost. Phone coolers are a good one as well.

4% more increase in multi-core score? Are you kidding me? Lol snapdragon 8 gen 1 can't even beat a14 bionic I have the Asus rog phone 5 with snapdragon 888 it's heating up too fast and its performance in gaming is not like they saying always apple is 2 years ahead of the rest 🤭

The snapdragon 888 beats a bionic 14 but it mostly depends on ur phone as well and the snapdragon 8 gen 1 with a good phone that doesn't heat up can beat bionic 15 easily.

The thing is Bionic chips are developed by Apple themselves, and they also have their exclusive OS to pair with their processor. Simply put, it will be much easier for them to fine-tune and optimize their hardware as needed, hence the higher performance level. That's also why iPhones don't need a large memory capacity to run smoothly. Credit to Apple though. Android on the other hand is more of an "open-source" material. Different OS, different chip manufacturers, different ideas, etc. At least that's how I perceive it to be.

Mido, I'm saying that both Apple and Qualcomm are excellent processor manufacturers, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 outperforming the A17 Pro.
