Your first charge - Ohme EV (2024)

Charging your EV for the first time might seem daunting if it’s something you’ve never done before. Don’t worry, you’ll be an EV charging pro in no time at all. Here’s everything you need to know about your first charge:

  • Downloading the Ohme app
  • Creating your account
  • Setting your tariff
  • Integrating with a smart tariff
  • Pairing your Ohme charger
  • Selecting your car
  • Creating a charge schedule
  • Enabling security settings

Downloading the Ohme app

To get the most out of your new charger, you’ll need to download the Ohme app. Head to the App Store or Playstore to download the Ohme app and create your account. Please note, Ohme requires a strong 3G/4G mobile phone signal to work as a smart charger. You’ll still be able to use your charger without mobile signal, but you won’t be able to benefit from Ohme’s smart charging capabilities.

Android customers will need version 8.0 or later. iOS customers will need version 14.0 or later but, to benefit from all the latest features and improvements, make sure you’re on the most recent app version available.

Creating your account

When you first open the Ohme app after you’ve finished installing, you’ll be prompted to create your Ohme account. As a security feature, we only support one account to be linked to the charger at a time.

Tip: If you would like to share access to the charger and Ohme app with another user, we recommend setting up the account using the ‘Sign in with email’ option as Apple ID, Gmail or Facebook are linked to your personal device.

Enabling security settings

Now that you’ve finished setting up your account, you may be wondering how to keep your Ohme Charger secure. Ohme has three security settings designed to provide you with peace of mind during every charging session. ‘Approve each plugin,’ gives you control over who can access your charger. ‘Lock charger buttons’ safeguards your charging session against unauthorised tampering by preventing anyone from altering the settings or interrupting the session once you’ve plugged in. ‘Sleep when inactive’ ensures energy efficiency and privacy by automatically turning off the display and indicator lights after plug-in, reducing unnecessary power consumption and drawing less attention to your charger.
