Can you raid in Dwarf Fortress? ›

There are multiple types of missions, such as raids, explorations, and artifact/citizen recovery. Note: This is all done "off screen" - you have no control of the dwarves' actions once they leave your map, not until (with luck) they return.

Do you want AI controlled allies in another settlement or do you want to keep the ones you send in your own fortress. Conquered sites takes away your dwarfs, but you can get some of them back if you send a messenger there and request them.

Walls are fine. Doors and such can be broken by building destroyer enemies unless they're artefact doors, which are indestructible, so if you get lucky enough to have a dwarf make one, keep it for special uses where you want an indestructible door, because you can't make them normally.

It is possible to be sieged by all civilized races, with the exception of kobolds and subterranean animal people; these two never go beyond ambushes. Enemy civilizations will begin to send sieges against your fortress once its population reaches 80 members, with the exception of the undead, who may attack at any time.

Dwarves, wild and tame animals, and most invaders will all be unable to pass. However, thieves can pick the locks of forbidden doors, and building destroyers such as trolls will simply smash them down. Ghosts can also open forbidden doors, leaving them passable after passing through.

They are designated from a constructed restraint or metal cage, by querying the restraint, designating it as a room, and then setting it to be used for justice. As your dwarves break the law, your Sheriff/Captain of the Guard, or any Fortress Guard, will place them in one of the designated restraints.
