RTWILEYRC Registered User | Kudos for an obviously well thought out and tested design. However after downloading the files I notice several problems with all doors on the lower side of the fuselage. While gear doors and lower EDF doors are provided, there is no means of hinging these parts and no means of actuating these parts. I originally had the impression that I am on my own to develop a system of mounting and actuation. I’ve since found out a video explaining these doors is forthcoming. Thought I’d let others know in case they have seen the same problem. I am very good at 3D design and have published quite a bit of work intended for 3D printing. I'm also an accomplished RC modeler. This is not to boast but to let it be known I'm capable of taking care of hinging these doors on my own. I would prefer the door actuation servos and hinging be fully integrated into the design. However, without the CAD files it becomes nearly impossible for me to incorporate the needed changes into the design. I’ll just have to wait on the videos to see how you did it. The provisions for 3D printing while mostly good, leave a little to be desired. For the most part it looks well thought out. However the first item I attempted to print requires supports for a flat section near the very tip of the nose. Bridging across 7mm horizontal with just 2 layers and no supports is not possible with any degree of quality. (I'm going by the recommended print settings.) While many love to stretch the limits of 3D printing and bridge over horizontal sections, I prefer to concentrate on obtaining high quality prints without pushing the limits. There is absolutely no need for the flat section in the first place. The nose inside could have tapered down to a point just like the outside. That's easy to modify given the CAD files. Not practical without. I'll print the nose with the supports it requires. However as an avid designer of 3D printed parts, I know that requiring such bridging is easily avoided in a design. I know this is nit-picking one particular part (the very first part) but I wonder how many more places I’ll find that could have been better optimized for 3D printing. [edit] I know the big thing about this model is the VTOL capability. The transition between vertical and horizontal flight is the key design issue for this model and is likely still in development. Gear doors are low on the priority list. I just want to know how much of this thing is still in the development stage? Honestly I don't expect everything laid out on a silver platter. This thing is quite advanced and I'm fully aware that it will take considerable effort on my part. |

Siggi1974 Registered User | Hello everybody, I also got the files from RC-Jetprint to build my own VTOL-F35B (see some pics of the current status The aim of this project is something completely different and builders should recognize that.....I currently have no problems with the files (85% already done) and if I had a question it was answererd very soon....E.G. I was told, that the bottom door issue will be covered in one of the next vids....But do you really want or need them? Happy printing ImagesView all Images in thread

Joel_Vlashof Registered User Thread OP | Work in progress on doors. Guys Guys, lets talk VTOL and not doors. I like 3d printing and making this model, its an easy build, not complex and boy, what you can do with it....craaaaazyyy I like flying/ hover it in my garden, it fly's very nicely and yes i had some wing damage after transport, so in a few hours i 3D printed a new wing. this is what you get from the Rc-jetprint files, you can print as many spare parts if you want. VTOL is all about making choices, you all do know, that if you are know with vtol we do all need to make choices, the Real f35 has like 24 doors, impossible to ad them in this smaller 3D printeble version. This is a semi scale f35 fun jet for all who want to try what i am doing Weight goal is to stay under 3,2 kg to reach 2 minute hover: or vertical take off 1. If you want to fly it CTOL.. don't ad the frond 70mm edf but slide the lipo bay holder to the front, CG point are located under the wings. and glue the doors liftfan doors closed and back doors. 2. If you want to fly it as an hand launch glue all doors closed 3. If you want it as vtol, be carefull wit adding all doors moving, don't go over 3,2 kg and believe me you don't miss them during an amazing hover. if you go over 3,4kg you won't escape ground effects!!!! for all of you i will try to share alot of pictures during builds cheers Joel PS: @ siggi, awesome build mate, if you need help tuning it just let me know ImagesView all Images in thread

Siggi1974 Registered User | Yeahhh...Honestly I do not need the doors personally, if it can do VTOL, transitions and forward flight with 3D vectoring....Holy s.........I like this concept....This is the first F-35B plane I have recognized, which is capable of doing that.... Siggi |

If we had information like this to begin with there wouldnt be questions. It is becoming increasing obvious this design is a work in progress. Wouldnt be a problem if we knew that up front. But it is sold as a complete and finished system. I am amazed at your work. Been following some of your videos on YouTube for quite some time. I couldnt wait to try it myself. However I might have waited a little bit if I had known youre still working it out. A few simple questions: |

Been following some of your videos on YouTube for quite some time. I couldnt wait to try it myself. However I might have waited a little bit if I had known youre still working it out. A few simple questions: Thankyou for your question, but not so easy to answer but i will try 1. no, this model is what it is, tested for 1. hover 2. flight and 3. slow outbounds and inbounds, build in this single model. and we made it possible!! see videos. 2. no, its up to you how to setup, it's not an PNP, but i there is a nice forum in vtolgroup what is all about the kk2.1 OAV read and learn. Most people contacted me wants to use their own FC like pixhawk of some other flight computers but i am not into ardu pilot. Three videos will be launched still. 1 about how to setup an kk2 board like i tested it, 2 prepairing for first flight. 3 i gathering all your questions to answer them in the last video. 3. see answer 1, i didn't do a transition on camera but there are many transition videos with my Kestrel model with the kk2.1 OAV. i'm using the same settings from that model. I do prepare a nice new video, but waiting for a clear day. I do work fulltime at Philips and i have also a fulltime family live with 2 small kids, this is hobby for me. so i will try to make my 16 hour workday longer. 4 . who is us??? from the people who sended me privately their photos and videos are really progressing nicely and we are doing our best to guide them privately. So what's is your aim? how far are with you build, can you show me some pictures? do you need more help from us privately? please tell me what you like the most about this project, you bought with an reason? can you share some amzing builds that you have done in the past. I do want to help you get reach your perfect maiden flight!!! This is a simplyfied cheap 3D printeble version of my big composite version. it's semi scale and build for pure fun. Best regards, Joel |

RTWILEYRC Registered User | Well I'm disappointed. I purchased what I thought was a complete design. Not necessarily PNP. There was nothing on the website or otherwise that would lead me to believe I was getting an incomplete design. Misleading. I have a full time job too. Yet still produce 100% complete and documented designs of models intended for 3d printing. Nobody is asking for you to put in more time. I think all I could ask at this time is for you to be more forthcoming in what it is you're selling. And for the price, sell something a bit more complete. This wasn't presented as a 10 Euro backyard glider from some no-name on Cults3d. It was presented as a much higher value build by a seasoned professional. Tutorial videos are provided for the other aircraft for sale. There was no reason for "us" to believe this one would be any different. "Us", we... anybody that would plunk down their hard earned cash earned from their full time jobs. Why does any help have to come privately? Why privately? While I appreciate the offer, If someone has a question or problem, why not share it with everybody? If someone has a question, it's likely others will have the same question. Save yourself and everybody else some time. Publish the answers once. I'm about halfway through printing the fuselage. My plan is to build 2 of these. The first primarily for for forward flight only to get my feet wet with this design. The second will be more specifically for STOVL. Not much to show as of yet but I'd be happy to share pictures. Amazing builds: Please note the degree of detail and documentation supplied. Be happy to assist documenting your design. I'm already started. ImagesView all Images in thread

Joel_Vlashof Registered User Thread OP | This is nose section 1 and 2, they both can be printed without support. weight section 1 is 10 grams and section 2 is 36 grams. Make sure you grind the parts first with 400 grid and finish with 600 grid i use medium from zap a gap to glue the parts together ImagesView all Images in thread
